Who We Are
A Few Words About Us
Founded in 1981, Rob Kenner and Kennedy “Seeborn” Ugbomah were playing music in New York City way before many “sound systems” were even thought of. “We were playing alongside Stone Love and Metromedia on any given night downtown” says Seeborn. “We would juggle tunes and dubplates until 5am and the crowd refused to leave!” Other members were brought in such as Willie One Blood, David Raimer and Gyasi, before adding veteran selector Charlie Brown. “It was an honor to be asked to play on NY’s “godfather sound” from the 90’s, Brooklyn.” BBC had been recording, mixing and mastering music and dubplates from back then, being the 1st sound to play exclusive hip-hop and reggae riddims from producers of Biggie Smalls, Shabba Ranks and even Jamalski!
They rammed nightclubs like Wetlands, S.O.B.’s, Nells and had long running iconic parties like Stickey Mike’s and Reggae Lounge. “We were working with so many great reggae artists and had so many dubs that BBC became a NY City pillar of foundation reggae, dancehall and soundsystem culture right up to today and forever!” They had a professional recording studio, production company and sound system since 1988, so this company was a natural progression for their global ideas and dreams. “We saw where the digital revolution was going and rode the wave. Now WE can record, mix, master and play music on another level.”
The members all have their own companies and are also journalists, engineers, and even music business comsultants.
“One thing is for certain, the big, bad BBC HiFi Sound will never change and never stop”, said Charlie, “we will demolish anything in our way to the top!” We are here for all of your music and recording needs.
